About Richele

Richele Jackson and her two daughters, Iviana and Jasha currently share a two-bedroom apartment in a Philadelphia subsidized housing high-rise. While completing her 350 sweat equity hours that will be her down payment on her Habitat Home, she has held two jobs and often contends with a leaking ceiling and 12 flights of stairs when the building elevator is broken. With your help, Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia will complete her house. She'll pay a zero interest mortgage. The money generated from her payments and the 140 other Habitat families in Philadelphia empowers Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia to build more affordable homes.

Contribute

You can help Richele achieve her goal of home ownership. On my trip I'll cross around 3000 miles of the US. By pledging dollars or cents per mile, by the time I jump into the Pacific Ocean, Richele could be jumping for joy. All donations should be made directly to Habitat for Humanity in Philadelphia and are tax deductible.

Office Prep

Almost 7 at night and still at the habitat office. Doing what i can do get things in order so the trip can at least start smooth. Blog is almost squared away. Only to more days of working on site. I've got volunteers on sat, my last day, and I'm lookingt forward to it. It sounds like the best way to end and have a great time. We'll be taking down a tree, I hope they eat their Wheaties!

The long island leg

On my way back to philadelphia after visiting my parents on long island. Had hopped to get all my belongings stored in their house in prep for my bike move to the west coast... This is one of the last times i'll be making the philly-->ny trip. Maybe i'll grow to know some new roads as well as i know these. My doctor says that physically (except for the minor food poisoning brought on by a bad reuben) i check out. Mentally, however, he seems to be of the same camp as my parents. Apparently this is a very dangerous endeavor I'm undertaking. I asked why he mostly seemed concerned about my sexual health when i went to china. He thought it was b/c i wasn't alone in china. Funny, I sure felt alone.

Anyway, it feels like I've found a lot the support I was looking for from my friends. Jim offered to put together a donation and pledge site and lots of people are already pledging to pledge. My parents got me a nifty new phone that I plan to use to maintain this blog, so stay tuned.
